Very Good Gardening at Smallfields

Post 25: Planting Day

My seedlings finally found their way outside.

I planted over 100 plants and watermelon, cantaloupe, green bean, and cucumber seeds.

Everything is doing really well!

My hubby also built me 9 new raised beds. He’s amazing.

New beds with tomatoes and basil plants

I add granule fertilizer to the hole of each plant and mix it in before adding the plant. For my tomatoes I used “Tomato Tone” and for my peppers I use a mix of bone meal and blood meal. All of these are organic fertilizers.

I covered a lot of my pepper plants with a shade cloth to minimize damage from sun scald.

The main garden looks so good! It’s such a peaceful place right now
Beans are sprouting
Green Stalk is really coming along

I was also able to harvest a lot of my lettuce, spinach, and arugula today. I got a couple bonus carrots and my first radishes of the season!

Harvest from this afternoon

Not pictured are the SO many pea flowers we have right now, melons sprouting up, a bed full of green bean seedlings, and cucumbers sprouting.

This is one happy gardener!
