In order to prepare for starting seeds next month, I need to check all of my supplies. I thought this would be a good opportunity to show you what materials I use.
I know that a lot of people can have success starting their seeds in trays, sitting on a window sill. Two years ago, I proved that I am not one of those people.
So last year, I bought 4 Bio Domes and they were amazing! I took them out last week and soaked and scrubbed them, so now, they are ready to go.
Right before I intend to use them, I will soak the sponges in water and plug them into the holes.
Next, I checked that all of my grow lights were functioning. I realized one was no longer turning on, so I made sure to order one.
I have two heating pads that I place under the pepper and tomato trays.
My dog, Mack, was eager to help.
And of course, seeds. I keep them in photo storage boxes.
I also purchased some 4-inch pots for when the seedlings are ready to be potted up.
These are the things that helped bring me success last year. I recognize that there are countless ways to start seeds but if you’re interested in knowing what I use here’s the list:
Bio Domes (4 – with foam inserts and clear tops)
Sponges (Enough to go in slots of Bio Dome)
Grow Lights (8 – had to buy another one this year)
Heat Mat (2 – for heat-loving plants)
Fans (4 – to keep air circulating and simulate outside)
Shelf (to stack the trays)
Extension cords (2)
Seeds (Who knows how many)
Mack attack!
