Very Good Gardening at Smallfields

Post 2: Garden Dreaming

I guess I have to start somewhere.

I’m Christen McCoy. I live in Central Maryland on a plot of land called Smallfields. My husband and his family have lived on this land since 1983. We three beautiful children, Caralynne, Maddie, and JP. While it was originally my dream to build a garden in our backyard, my husband has helped to make it a reality.

Help is a lame word.

He didn’t help. He did it. He built every raised bed. Built fences. Built a duck run. Built a duck pond. Built a pad for our garden shed. Built two compost bins. Carried all of the soil, wood chips, compost, tools, and everything else into the backyard. My husband is the reason my dream came true. I could never have grown a single thing without him. So, Wes…

Thank you.

And I love you.

Ok moving on from the gushy stuff. My intent with this blog is to share my thoughts and experiences as a new(ish) gardener. I’m pretty sure my family is tired of hearing about all things gardening. My most recent clue was when my mom rolled her eyes when I said “How cool would it be to grow this pepper?!”

I mean, honestly, it’s a pretty awesome pepper and I’m absolutely growing it this year.

I’ve already ordered all of my new seeds for the year. How can you look at this and not get excited??

Yes, I have many viable seeds left over from last year. Yes, I needed more.

Seed Starting 2022 for this gardener starts in one month.

See you then.
