Very Good Gardening at Smallfields

Post 21: Mid-April Update

Here is your Mid-April Update:

First, indoor seedlings are coming along nicely.

Just so you know, all of the pictures that I put on every blog post were taken that day or the day before.

Bell Peppers

I was a little worried last week because I had over-watered them. But it appears that I caught them just in time. They have since all doubled in size and are on track to be planted outside in the next 3 weeks to a month.

Tomatoes
Zinnia
Strawberry Mint… Can’t wait for that mojito!

Outside is also doing well!

All the baby plants are enjoying the extra rain we’ve had and the warm temps. Even though I know the temps will be heading back down into the 50’s shortly, they don’t know that and are enjoying the beautiful weather!

Peas and Carrots (Said in a Forest Gump voice)
Green Stalk with lots of green seedlings
Onions, lettuce, and spinach

I added two hanging planters in the main garden to liven up the place.

The other is out of sight on the right

I am also experimenting with a dwarf pea variety. Since they will not get very large, I decided to grow them in grow bags without support. We’ll see how they turn out.

My father-in-law gave me some of his mountain mint. It is refreshing and doing well as a transplant.

Last but not least, my other grow bags are doing well too!

All in all, I’ve been very happy with the progress I’m seeing at Smallfields.

Thanks for reading this week’s rendition of “What Well Wednesday” and stay tuned to see more progress!
