At this point I am gardening all year long but I consider my season “Opening Day” to be when I first sow indoor seeds.
TODAY is that day!
The first thing I did was count how many soil inserts I would need for today.
Then I hydrate them. Yes, I know what they look like.
Then it’s time to add the inserts to their foam slots.
Then I asked for some assistance. The girls added tags to each slot.
I like to add the tags first so there is a smaller chance of me forgetting where the seeds are.
Then comes time to sow the seeds!
Then I add water, put the dome over them, and place them under the lights and on the heating pads.
Now we wait.
One of the coolest parts of sowing basil seeds is that they immediately puff up like this:
This is the seed coating around the basil that instantly starts hydrating the moment you add water to them. It’s very satisfying.
Stay tuned! I will be updating any germination progress on Instagram and Facebook ASAP.
I’m a very patient person so I will absolutely resist the urge to go into our basement 5 times before I go to bed to see if anything has sprouted in the first 2 hours after sowing.
You got my sarcasm right?
